Hostile LPG Society

Ghana has made a great stride in terms of Oil extraction and Gas acquisition to aid society and its economy. It has been discovered that Gas acquisition in the country recently has been a predicament between domestic users and commercial users. With domestic users where LPG is made affordable and easily accessible to beneficiaries it has been noticed that the product has become a fatal substance which is shuffling off mortal coils of many individuals through careless handling and inconsiderate acquisition of its equipment (cylinders).

It’s amazing how serious Gas Stations in strange circumstances have exploded to the detriment of the communities around without any attack on the stations. In furtherance gas products have been subsidized to halt the usage of charcoal which involves cutting down and burning of trees and logs to attain a porous black solid substance for domestic purposes, this to a large extent, have aided in curtailing the desertification of our forest reserves which is of importance to our lives and that of wild life, however houses and properties of individuals have suffered blasts and burns due to leakages and careless handling of the product. For some time, society is glad that environmental stakeholders and government agencies have come to realize how important it is to query and implement effective modalities to ensure that importation of fake and second hand gas cylinders and equipments do not creep into the country since it’s the main causative factor of such calamities. It is in respect of this that we as individual consumers need to propel the safe usage of these products for our own good and that of the nation. Commercial users are not left out when it comes to the hazards of handling LPG product.

First to our understanding, government has made it clear reasons why LPG product was subsidized purposely for domestic usage devoid of commercial consideration, but some vehicles and cars drivers have dwell on such advantages to swap their  fuel tanks from petrol and diesel to LPG usage due to it affordability.

With these incredible innovations and smart move to rationalize economic situation by these drivers, the end results such as severe pressure and shortage of the gas product is shifted to consumers which goes ahead to package a narrow ambition of maintaining our forest reserves to cripple our environmental development.

It is in respect of this that think tanks have suggested possible and general stream lines such as formidable conventions and laws to deal with commercial drivers who engage in such act. However other schools of thought also believe there should be lasting solutions to these constraints, suggestions such as mass production or provision in large quantity of LPG products to suffice either commercial or domestic users should be attainable in immediate time as an appropriate remedy of the problem. Although there have been different suggestions and assumptions on how to rectify theses problems, we plead to government and its sector ministry and stakeholders in charge  responsible for LPG acquisition and distribution to speed up any process in their pipe line to rectify the discomfort of these ordeals in our country as far as LPG is concern, since the nation stands a high risk of losing its potential and valuable human resources as well as its little revenue and income it has and will derived as a means of providing aid for affected colleagues in any of such disastrous situation.
